About This Role

Summary of the role
This role is to medically underwrite new business applications by using own medical knowledge to prepare quotes to an exception level of quality, ensuring no risk exposure for our client.
  
What you’ll be doing
  • To pro-actively assess Underwriting cases to ensure that business is written efficiently and in line with the quality framework.
  • Provide thorough and robust justifications for decisions and refer cases to third parties, including Chief Medical Officers, reassurers and Aviva in an accurate and clear manner.
  • To ensure that the Aviva Underwriting philosophy is understood and used alongside local procedures ensuring all decisions are made in line with this guidance.
  • To support maintenance of procedure guides, checklists and template documents, ensuring they are updated with legislation & process changes as required.
  • To provide technical support on any Complaints relating to the Underwriting process owned within the team.
  • Ownership for own continuous professional development to ensure medical knowledge is kept up to date as required for the role.
  • Responsibilities for authorising casework for others within agreed authority levels and completion of competency checking of others work within own autonomy levels.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the wide-ranging 3rd parties that are dealt with on a daily basis.
  • Protection for Diligenta and Aviva against financial loss by operating sound underwriting practices.

  • Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Has a thorough and methodical approach, paying attention to detail in all aspects of underwriting.
  • Have good numeracy and literacy skills
