About This Role

Summary of the role

The Reassurance Team is responsible for the production of all claims/premium related reinsurance treaty reports, sourcing and manipulation of all data as defined per treaties, reconciliation of reinsurance treaty premiums and claims settlement files to the General Ledger, preparation of payment files and supporting the investigation/fixing of defects identified either via control checks or from reinsurer queries.
The primary goal of this function is to oversee Reassurance processing pan account, liaising with both the Reassurers and Client contacts to ensure all processing is completed to agreed SLA/KPI measures.
This role is reporting to the Change and Implementation Manager in the interim, although the plan is to move this to the Specialised Finance Services function in 2026.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead and manage the Reassurance Team (Legacy & BaNCS) of up to 8 individuals. Ensure individuals are properly trained, managed and motivated to perform their role
  • Oversee the operational effectiveness of the Reassurance Team, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place to prevent SLA breaches and maximise efficiency. Drive and oversee appropriate deep dives, root cause analysis and reviews to continually evolve and improve the control framework
  • Manage the tripartite relationship between Client contacts, Reassurers and the Reassurance Team. Escalate significant issues to Senior Management where appropriate
  • Lead the Finance element for any Reassurance related incidents, liaise with the wider teams in identifying the root cause and delivering resolutions, act as an escalation point for issues and complex queries
  • Take responsibility for Procedures and Training for the entire Reassurance Team. Ensure material is regularly updated and fit for purpose as well as ensuring the Department has sufficiently skilled individuals for all processes
  • Oversee the production of effective and meaningful Management Information (MI)
  • Support Change and Transformation activity impacting Reassurance processing
  • Own the relationship and delivery of all activities relating to both Internal and External Audits of Reassurance processing, ensuring smooth audits/reviews and the timely provision of information and closure of any actions
  • Ensure all tasks and activities performed adhere to the Consumer Duty regulations
What we’re looking for
  • Accounting qualifications, either part of fully qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate at senior levels
  • Outstanding organisational skills, ability to plan workloads and delegate tasks
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Expert in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong knowledge of financial services (in particular Life and Pensions) & Reassurance processes and regulations
  • Strong understanding of Finance and Accounting principles, practices and compliance requirements for the UK and Ireland
  • 5+ years working within a finance role (or a finance-focussed change role) within Financial Services
  • Leading and developing a small team of Reassurance processing experts
  • Any formal qualifications in financial services regulations (Desirable)
  • Any project-related qualification (Desirable)
  • SQLs (Desirable)
  • Macros (Desirable)
  • In-depth understanding of Reassurance processes, procedures and controls (Desirable)
  • Diligenta internal systems and controls (Desirable)
  • Diligenta client’s products, processes and working practices (Desirable)
  • Supporting transformation/change programs and projects within a finance workstreams (Desirable)
